Ottawa Now – Canadian gig economy workers nervous as California votes down stricter rules for apps like Uber, Lyft

South of the border, the state of California was making headlines after voting down stricter gig economy rules. Tech giants, such as Uber and Lyft, won an exemption to a recently enacted legislation. This rule would have converted independent contractors to employees with rights to minimum wage, benefits, and other protections.
